[Angelina] Mont Blanc

Angelina is tucked into the basement food floor of Keio Department Store in Shinjuku. The showcase is easy to find once you head down from the south-side entrance area.

The case is filled with Mont Blancs. The lineup is not huge, but seasonal versions appear as well, so it is the kind of counter that is fun to revisit. The demi size is smaller than the original, but it still has plenty of weight and richness.

Angelina's Mont Blanc is a three-layer classic: sweet, dense chestnut cream, rich whipped cream, and a crisp meringue base hidden underneath.

The chestnut flavor and milky cream arrive together, while the meringue keeps the finish from becoming too heavy. It is quite sweet, so black coffee or straight tea makes a good pairing.
